Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a 2018 computer-animated superhero film based around the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales/Spider-Man. The first film in the Spider-Verse franchise, as well as being the first animated film in the overall Spider-Man franchise, the film stars Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Nicolas Cage, Kimiko Glenn, John Mulaney, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Lily Tomlin, and Liev Schreiber.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse premiered on December 1, 2018, at the Regency Village Theater in Westwood, Los Angeles and was released in the United States on December 14, 2018. Upon release, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse garnered universal critical acclaim and won many awards, including Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards.
A short film that takes place concurrent with the film's events, Spider-Ham: Caught in a Ham, was released on all home video releases of the movie. A sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One), will be released on October 7, 2022, with part two coming in 2023; a spin-off is in development, as well as a possible television series.
